Pantone Color Report for Spring 2012

The Pantone color report for Spring 2012 is out!  I love these looks ahead at color and fashion trends.

Don't you think Swarovski's brand new color, Denim blue, would look marvelous with the Sodalite Blue?

I'm always happy to see pink in the forecast.  Hey, the Cabaret matches my hair color really well.  I'm a trendsetter!

And Swarovski's new Crystal Pink Color would look fabulous with the beachy blues and tans.

Are you planning a wedding or event with any of these colors?

Color Trend: Pantone Honeysuckle

A few weeks ago, while everyone was distracted with the holidays, Pantone LLC announced  2011's color of the year, honeysuckle.

I adore this color--largely because I look great wearing it, and am always happy when a color in this family is hot and all over the shelves.  ;-)  But it's also just so bright and cheerful, so warm, so perfect looking forward to spring and summer.

This color is predicted to be very hot in every arena this year--fashion, home decor, and, of course, weddings.  The Dessy Group (one of my favorite bridesmaid dress designers) already has 139 of their gorgeous designs available in exactly this shade.

And if you want to incorporate some of this fabulous color into your wedding accessories, or want to purchase jewelry for your bridesmaids to coordinate perfectly with those dresses, Swarovski already makes the perfect color, Indian Pink.

We love working with color here at Tradewind Tiaras, and are happy to custom order any Swarovski color we don't already have in stock.

Trends: Small Plates at Home

The small plates concept has been popular in the restaurant industry for several years now.  Tapas from Spain was the original inspiration, but the flavors have now gone global.  I love the trend.  I love sharing with friends and getting to sample many dishes.

Happily, this trend is coming to the home.  Can you imagine a better way to serve delicious nibbles at a wedding shower than with the miniature servingware now available?  Mini mojito and martini glasses!  Tiny spoonfulls!  Itty bitty bowls and skewer-holders!  Check out these options now available from Pier One:

Or how about these miniature trifle dishes from Crate and Barrel?

I love trifles as a general principle.  So pretty, so fresh, so easy!  There is one thing I don't love about them, however.  They look great in the big trifle bowl, but the second you serve up the dessert, your guests are given a smushy, unattractive mess.  Delicious, but not pretty.  When each guest gets their own adorable tiny trifle, problem solved!

Someone get engaged or pregnant so I can throw a shower, already!
